(2026)

John Huck is a versatile DJ who plays from the heart. His DJ philosophy can be summed up as, put another record on and see what happens.

Over many years, he's cultivated a set of complementary DJ styles, including disco, house, techno (as Wijit), minimal, ambient, experimental, and rare groove. Based in Edmonton, he's also a librarian, a choral singer who has dabbled in opera, and a sometime radio host.

Sunshine After Dark (2019-2025) was a radio show that chronicled the month-by-month development of disco between 1974 and 1980. Created for CJSR in Edmonton, it was also broadcast on CKXU (Lethbridge) and CHMA (Sackville). All 200+ episodes are available online.

Dig It! Thursdays (2013-2016) was a weekly rare groove night at the Black Dog Freehouse co-created with Yuri Wuensch and Ian Rae (Raebot). Clocks & Clouds (2003-2007) was a Sunday night ambient and experimental techno show on CJSR co-hosted with Chris Waterton (Bolide).

Over the years, he's DJed for many Edmonton promoters, including Muscle Memory, Dead Vinyl Society, Disco in the Park, SweatYEG, Window Kids, Connect, and Refuge; and at various venues, including Mimi, the Faculty, the Grindstone, 9910, the Common, Transient, Friendtropy, Level 2, Y Afterhours, the Black Dog, and, going way back, Studio E.

These days, you can catch him playing vinyl sets every now and then at Mimi bar on Jasper Avenue.
